EPA Benchmarking
ENERGY STAR® is a program to promote energy efficiency and cost savings, started through the combined efforts of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Atlantic Energy Concepts believes businesses benefit financially by continually improving their management of energy resources, and the environment benefits from reduced levels of related pollution. We are proud to offer services that may assist businesses who have committed to the goals of ENERGY STAR. Atlantic Energy Concepts has been an Energy Star® Partner for over 10 years, meaning that we are endorsed by the EPA to provide energy-efficient services to commercial and industrial buildings/facilities. Through this partnership we are able to offer you a valuable benchmark rating, which, in turn, allows you to display the Energy Star® label, and promote your company as having “green” facilities endorsed by a U.S. governing body.
How does it Work?
Energy Star® hosts an interactive energy management on-line tool to manage energy and water consumption. The Portfolio Manager benchmarking tool allows you to streamline the collection, documentation and sharing of your facility’s energy and water data. The tool tracks portfolio-wide consumption, performance, and cost information… providing custom reporting.
Atlantic Energy Concepts is prepared to initiate and coordinate your Portfolio Manager account to enter the necessary energy, facility and operating data to generate a score for each of your facilities.
Energy Tracking and Benchmarking
Energy, facility and operating data is entered for each facility. This information allows you to:
- Track multiple energy and water meters for each facility
- Customize meter names and key information
- Benchmark your facilities relative to their past performance
- View percent improvement in weather-normalized source energy
- Monitor energy and water costs
- Share your building data with others inside or outside of your organization
- Enter operating characteristics, tailored to each space use category within your building.
Energy Star® Label Benchmarking
All commercial and institutional buildings can use Portfolio Manager. In addition to managing your data, many buildings can take the next step and benchmark their energy use relative to the national population of similar buildings. With Portfolio Manager’s national energy performance rating system, your building will receive a score between 1 and 100*. If you receive a rating of 75, you may qualify for the Energy Star Label. If your building is below the desired rating, we can recommend, design and facilitate the implementation of many Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs). Another benefit to receiving an EPA Benchmark is that it is your first, and a necessary, step toward the earning U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED® certification. On-going benchmarking services include developing energy efficiency strategies and projects to fulfill USGBC LEED® prerequisite points.
