• SENATORS TOLD U.S. LAGGING BEHIND IN GREEN TECHNOLOGY
Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Silicon Valley venture capitalist and Pulitzer Prize winning NY Times columnist Tom Friedman delivered stark warnings to congress on January 7, 2009. Doerr told senators that of the 30 top companies in solar, wind, and advanced batteries, just 6 are U.S. firms. Freidman said, "We won the space race... now we are in an Earth race with other nations to see who can invent the technology so that men and women can stay on Earth." They both agree that energy is the "mother of all markets," valued at $6 trillion annually with billions of customers worldwide. This presents perhaps the largest economic opportunity of the 21st century.
